Bo He was amazed by Boss Qin's persistence in racing against the clock.
At a time like this, instead of thinking about escaping with his life, he first sat down to find Wei Feizhou and finish their discussion about the collaboration.
Such a spirit of disregarding life and death in the face of an earthquake was truly admirable.
Staying put right now was a safer and more reliable option than trekking back to the hotel for help.
But, at this moment, most people would surely be panicking, worried and frightened. People like Qin Chuan were truly few and far between.
Bo He had long known this boss was different from those rich second-generation kids in the rumors who did no real work and just squandered their family fortunes. Now, seeing it with her own eyes, she thought to herself that Shengming Company's prosperity in recent years was apparently not entirely due to the support of the Qin Group.
Even Wei Feizhou gave a wry smile.
"Young CEO Qin, is there really a need to go this hard?"
Qin Chuan said, "Rather than wasting time here, we might as well talk about something meaningful. CEO Wei, your time is precious. After we get out of here, you'll surely be busy with important matters again. Perhaps even if I were to visit you personally, I wouldn't be able to get an appointment."
Wei Feizhou laughed heartily. "How could that be? Young CEO Qin, you're quite the joker. If you'd honor me with your presence, of course I'd welcome you with good tea and fine wine!"
Qin Chuan said amiably, "I'd rather not waste your good wine and tea, CEO Wei. Although this place is a bit crude, its advantage is its quietness, which allows us to finish our discussion, wouldn't you agree?"
Seeing that he wouldn't give up, Wei Feizhou's smile faded.
"I've already said what needed to be said quite clearly before."
Qin Chuan said, "I ask that you give me another chance, CEO Wei."
Wei Feizhou seemed not to have expected that Qin Chuan could say something that was tantamount to admitting defeat, and he was momentarily startled.
The two looked at each other for a moment before he finally said, "Young CEO Qin, there's no need for this. I've already explained my reasons very clearly."
Qin Chuan said, "I know you're prejudiced against the Qins, but I've never known the reason why. Since we have time now, I wonder if you'd be willing to enlighten me, CEO Wei?"
Wei Feizhou: "You should ask your father about that."
Qin Chuan was silent for a moment. "My relationship with him isn't as good as you imagine."
Wei Feizhou smiled. "No matter how bad it is, you're still father and son. Blood is thicker than water."
Qin Chuan said lightly, "The kind of 'not good' where I don't know if he'll let me inherit the Qin business in the future."
Wei Feizhou was stunned.
Qin Chuan then proceeded to drop another bombshell into the already rippling pond.
"He has an illegitimate son."
Bo He shot to her feet.
She felt she couldn't listen anymore. Otherwise, if she didn't die in the typhoon and earthquake, she would most likely die from knowing too much.
"It's cooler over there, I'll go sit over there for a bit!"
With that, she raised her foot to leave.
Before she could take a step, her wrist was grabbed.
Bo He turned her head, and Qin Chuan was looking right at her.
"Where are you going?"
"CEO Qin, you're talking business. It's not appropriate for me to listen."
Qin Chuan: "I didn't say you couldn't listen."
He applied some force, but couldn't pull Bo He back down. She didn't budge an inch, which in turn startled Qin Chuan.
Bo He: "I'll just sit over there. It's not far. You two bosses can talk first. Call me anytime if you need anything."
With a twist of her hand, she broke free from Qin Chuan's grip and walked over to a nearby rock to sit down.
This spot was in the path of the wind. When the wind blew, it scattered the voices of the two men behind her, and Bo He could no longer hear what they were saying at all.
Out of sheer boredom, she took out her phone and subconsciously tried to log into Stimulating Battlefield, only to realize that she couldn't even make a phone call from here, let alone have a network signal strong enough to support a game.
Thunder rumbled overhead, but it still wasn't raining.
It was fortunate that it wasn't raining, otherwise it would truly be a case of "when it rains, it pours."
Bo He lifted her head.
Dark clouds still covered most of the sky, but the edges of the clouds were gradually revealing a white light. At least it looked like daytime now.
Although it was summer, the early morning wind was still a bit chilly. Bo He hugged her knees and stared into space, her consciousness gradually growing hazy as the world faded away.
Wei Feizhou actually didn't want to hear about the Qin family's private affairs.
But his relationship with the Qins also made him a little curious.
Half-resisting and half-complying, before he had time to cover his ears and sternly refuse, Qin Chuan's words had already drifted into them.
In reality, Qin Chuan didn't say much, but those few words were enough for Wei Feizhou to mentally conjure up a whole wealthy family drama.
"Since college, I haven't used any of his money. Although I work at Shengming Company now, that was an appointment made by my grandfather when he was still alive. Shengming Company is completely independent in its management and organizational structure. Therefore, I hope you won't get too hung up on the grudges between you and my father, CEO Wei. From a practical standpoint, a collaboration between us has a hundred benefits and no drawbacks. I also won't give my father any opportunity to interfere. You can rest assured."
Wei Feizhou was silent for a moment. "I'll consider it."
Going from a firm refusal at the very beginning to now saying he would consider it showed that he was already yielding.
Qin Chuan nodded. "If you are willing to seriously consider my proposal, CEO Wei, Shengming Company can make the greatest possible concessions on the specific terms of our collaboration."
Wei Feizhou met Qin Chuan's solemn expression, then looked at the mess of scattered ruins behind him and suddenly chuckled.
Meeting Qin Chuan's baffled gaze, Wei Feizhou explained, "From the rumors I'd heard, I always thought you were a rather unapproachable young man. It seems that's not the case at all. Rumors can't be fully trusted; they're especially misleading. For you to have developed Shengming Company to its current scale, it's truly a case of the new generation surpassing the old."
In this situation, the two of them obviously couldn't discuss specific contract terms. Qin Chuan was merely trying his best to win over the other party's interest. If Wei Feizhou was willing to agree in principle, then all subsequent difficulties would be trivial.
The two chatted idly, but Qin Chuan's thoughts began to drift. Like a willow catkin, they pretended to be casual as they silently floated behind him.
Wei Feizhou's words made him think of someone.
That person was sitting right behind him now.
When the earthquake had struck, Qin Chuan had actually already left the pavilion and was on his way down the mountain.
But he thought of Bo He, whom he had just run into, and so he had turned back.
The real-life Bo He gave him many negative impressions.
"Peppermint Tea" from the game, however, had made him lower himself to befriend her.
He had yet to reconcile the two when the earthquake struck.
No matter how annoying the real Bo He was, she was still a human life. Qin Chuan couldn't bring himself to turn a blind eye.
He had thought he would have to go back and search for a while, but he never expected to find her at the pavilion.
In other words, Bo He thought he was in danger at the pavilion and had gone there specifically to find him.
Qin Chuan's inner pride kept him as still as a mountain, but his head, as if pulled by an invisible force, began to turn, little by little.
Then he saw Bo He dozing off.
She was sleeping without a care in the world, her face resting sideways on her knees, turned in their direction. She wasn't the kind of beauty who would stun you at first glance, but the longer you looked, the less tired of it you became.
Wei Feizhou's voice coolly sounded from the side, "The young lady must be cold sleeping over there!"
Qin Chuan's hand, which had already reached for the zipper of his jacket, was prompted by this sentence to smoothly move to his forehead instead, slicking his hair back as if nothing was wrong.
But Wei Feizhou seemed to see right through him and said cheerfully, "Suffering in silence just to save face! You'll regret this later!"
