Chapter 41 - Chapter 40

A team of armed personnel violently broke open the door of the bathroom stall. Inside, they saw a man in a green uniform, elbows resting on his knees, sitting on the toilet lid in an unusually deep and artistic posture.

The first two men who entered exchanged glances, quickly exchanging a light message, and then tacitly, one covered while the other stepped forward, grabbing the man's shoulders through his gloves.

The man in the green uniform softly slumped in the direction he was pushed. He was still breathing, but when he heavily hit the ground, he showed no reaction at all.

He had been knocked out by a powerful anesthetic drug.

Several armed personnel gathered around, clumsily checking over the man in the green uniform. They removed the communication system from his body. After technical tracking, they found a communication message that had been deleted, which was sent to Earth.

Although it was a crude disguise - sent and then deleted - the technicians of the other star system were not fools. They immediately figured out this trick.

Someone had used the communication system on this man from the other star system, and made a simple association with their own communication system, establishing a small "local area communication network". By setting up the address book at close range, imitating the proxy servers that had long been banned on Earth, it was equivalent to turning this man from the other star system into a living proxy server. Through him, communication tracking was blocked.

It was like ancient hackers from years ago hiding their IP through a proxy.

The armed personnel exchanged glances, transmitting information to each other. Very soon, they withdrew from the bathroom in a well-trained manner. They decided to thoroughly search the entire floor - that spy couldn't have gone far.

The spy really hadn't gone far. In fact, Fu Luo was in the next stall of the bathroom.

She stood with both feet on the toilet lid, coiled in a posture ready to rush out and stab someone with a laser knife. She held her breath and listened intently to the footsteps outside her stall.

Only when the footsteps receded did she let out a sigh of relief. She lowered her head to check the tool pliers. The series of light messages that had just been packaged showed that the sending was completed.

Fu Luo let out a big sigh of relief, feeling that more than half of her mission was completed. Now it seemed that only the final task of "escaping" remained.

This successful visual transfer made Fu Luo taste a little sweetness. She reflected and felt that on one hand she was lucky, and on the other hand she was also a bit smart.

Unfortunately, things that reach an extreme must reverse. Fu Luo soon tasted the bitter fruit of being complacent too early.

Her good luck, where every step could win 5 million, finally heartlessly abandoned her.

Fu Luo squatted on the toilet lid, connecting the pliers to her own receiver and carefully reviewing the recorded three-dimensional image of the entire ship.

The following message popped up on the glasses she had robbed: "Attention all departments, enemy spies have infiltrated our ship. Please quickly count the number of personnel in each department and report as soon as possible. From now on, our ship will close all carrier docking stations and no one is allowed to approach."

It's over, this is the rhythm of catching a turtle in an urn!

Fu Luo's heart was filled with bitterness. She began to ponder, if she really couldn't get close to any small ship docking station, how could she go back? Stroll back by spacewalking?

Due to the lack of such a deadly precedent in the entire human history, Fu Luo could not be sure. If she really took a long-distance and cool spacewalk with her mortal body, would she be directly sublimated into gas by space stray bullets? Or would she be lucky enough to starve to death halfway?

Circumstances are so fickle, becoming so unfriendly in such a short time!

Of course, any self-respecting soldier would not sit and wait for death, even if faced with a desperate situation.

Fu Luo used the cutting tool in the pliers to cut a slit in the bathroom stall door. She carefully probed outside, making sure there was no one in the bathroom before walking out.

She didn't dare to pass through the corridor. There must be a lot of monitoring devices on this kind of large ship. They were hidden while she was exposed. They would have to be idiots not to catch her. With this in mind, Fu Luo walked to the back of the bathroom.

On Earth, temperature control and ventilation equipment are usually installed in a corner of the bathroom. Fu Luo hoped that the humans of the other star system would retain this glorious tradition.

This wasn't a matter of luck. The design of the bathroom must consider air circulation factors, so the structure and location of the bathrooms on the other star system's human ships were not much different from those on Earth.

Fu Luo was overjoyed and pried open the door of the equipment room.

She wasn't sure about other things, but the ventilation system must be connected on every floor.

Fu Luo used the maintenance toolbox she still had on her to open the ventilation shaft casing. Then she covered her nose and retreated a few steps. She made enough mental preparations, took out an oxygen capsule and bit it open. Using the thin protective cover from the oxygen capsule to shield herself from the foul air, she plunged in headfirst and climbed down like a monkey.

She decided to go find the information control room that sent the message to the glasses. She would make a fake link there, so that when she contacted Earth again, every person on this spaceship would become her "agent", and the enemy would not be able to find her as quickly as before.

Fu Luo moved extremely fast, using only ten minutes to climb down the ventilation shaft like a gecko.

She didn't know that her decision was riddled with low-level mistakes and loopholes.

Generally, such an information sending and receiving platform like a customer service center is only a mouthpiece for superiors and subordinates, and its status will never be high. If the bottom level of the entire ship is maintenance soldiers, then information sending and receiving soldiers are likely to be on the second to last level.

Fu Luo estimated the distance she had climbed in her heart, and then, with her back and legs against the shaft wall, she took out the toolbox and removed the casing of this section of the ventilation shaft.

There was a slight error in the mental calculation. When Fu Luo opened this section of the ventilation shaft, she found that the little demon of "good luck" was really terribly fickle - at this time, Fu Luo was almost right against the ceiling.

She could only jump down as lightly as possible. Although the landing sound was as light as a feather, it was still unfortunately heard by someone.

From outside the door, footsteps came rushing in.

Fu Luo's eyelids twitched. In an instant, she had already heard that there were several people. The footsteps were almost identical, neat and without hesitation. They were definitely not people who happened to hear movement in the equipment room while going to the toilet.

It would be easy for her to jump down, but there was absolutely no time to climb back up.

There really was no time to do anything. After a brief moment of thought, Fu Luo felt that the most practical choice at the moment was to put on a very certain and inscrutable expression.

In the next moment, the door to the equipment room was broken open from the outside, and three or four gun muzzles were aimed at Fu Luo simultaneously. What greeted them was a "maintenance soldier" with a certain and inscrutable expression.

Fu Luo's heart transitioned from utter chaos to complete blankness, but miraculously, under such circumstances, she managed to maintain a "perfect smile in front of the camera" that could be on a magazine cover with her life on the line... perhaps it was the potential of people between life and death.

Seven or eight light signals poured in one after another.

"Disarm!"

"Put your hands up!"

"No tricks!"

"Don't move!"

Two minutes later, the sage-like Fu Luo, prodded by several guns, walked out of the equipment room.

At this time, the high-ranking military officer in black who had asked her to fix the water purifier on the top floor stepped out. With his hands behind his back and his eyes like an eagle's, he stared at Fu Luo's face, which was as stiff as a novice model's, and suddenly spoke.

Fu Luo stared at his mouth, almost thinking they had all evolved to lose their vocal cords!

But she couldn't understand, so she just needed to smile.

The officer was silent for a moment, as if assessing her identity. After a while, he suddenly switched to Mandarin that was a bit stiff but standard as a recording: "Earthling?"

This time, Fu Luo couldn't pretend not to understand, so she nodded reservedly.

Officer: "So you were planning to connect your communicator to our control room, turning every person on this giant ship into your signal transmitter - do you think we wouldn't think of this trick after seeing a real case? Do you think we're all very stupid?"

This question was really hard to answer. Fu Luo thought for a moment and found that she really had no way to respond, so she could only continue to smile inscrutably.

The officer's gaze imperceptibly grew solemn. It was always difficult for complex people to imagine the cruel fact that their opponent was actually a foolish novice who would make low-level mistakes. Anyway, the officer was now convinced that there must be some other plot behind Fu Luo being captured so easily.

However, he was after all in a high position and was still able to hide his emotions. The officer in black turned and walked forward, ordering lightly: "Bring her over, the Commander-in-Chief wants to see her."

Wait, who? The Commander-in-Chief?

The top leader of the other star system's military operation this time?

Really?!

Other than a distant glance at General Yang of her own country, she hadn't even seen the commanders of the Earth Allied Forces!

Fu Luo was brought to the top floor she had just visited not long ago. The battle situation diagram on the big screen disappeared, replaced by a space office that looked to be only a dozen square meters, exceptionally small and simple. There was an ordinary chair and a bookshelf packed with books - most of the spines were from ancient Earth.

After a moment, a man walked over with light steps, holding a cup of water. He naturally lifted the leg of his pants and sat down on the chair.

Fu Luo finally got a clear look at this legendary Commander-in-Chief of the star system.

He had an average appearance, the kind of middle-aged man you would forget as soon as you saw him. He was a bit thin, wearing what looked like a vintage white shirt from the 20th century, with no frills and not particularly well-tailored. The sleeves were casually rolled up, leaving irregular creases at the elbows.

"Hello." The Commander-in-Chief nodded politely to Fu Luo.

Fu Luo couldn't help but reply, "Hello."

The Commander-in-Chief looked her over with great appreciation: "I didn't expect such a young lady. The new generation from Earth is really surprising - you've already obtained important intelligence from our military and transmitted it back, right?"

"..." To avoid making low-level mistakes again, Fu Luo pondered seriously for a moment and found what she considered a more appropriate answer. She said, "Guess."

Upon hearing this, the Commander-in-Chief of the star system actually laughed very happily.

"You're a very interesting young lady. Sigh, my daughter is about your age, but other than causing trouble everywhere, she basically can't do anything," the Commander-in-Chief said with a gentle and kind expression. "I'll make a bet with you. I've decided to continue our military's plan. Even if your information is accepted, the Earth Allied Forces will still walk into my trap. Do you believe it?"

As he said the last few words, his smile faded, and although the slightly weathered expression lines at the corners of his eyes hadn't smoothed out, his gaze passed through the image, letting Fu Luo feel a kind of powerful pressure.

"Let's wait and see together."

Fu Luo's light information was of course successfully transmitted to the Second Department of the General Staff Office.

Yang Ning glanced at the information converted by the demodulator and immediately passed it to the supreme command center.

Limited by her own knowledge and understanding, Fu Luo couldn't fully comprehend that light information, but Yang Ning was different. He almost felt his hair stand on end, and the entire Second Department of the General Staff Office was dead silent for more than ten seconds.

At this time, General Yang's voice sounded from the communicator: "Notify the vanguard to stand by in place, main force to stand by in place."

Yang Ning immediately relayed the order. After a while, he couldn't help but ask, "Leader, will we withdraw our troops?"

General Yang was silent for a moment: "The message has been uploaded to the United Nations. We will hold a short frontline meeting right away. Although this information is very important, given that the source of our intelligence is unclear, we may need some time to be cautious. I need you to arrange and coordinate for our ships that have already entered the sixty-fold range to withdraw first."

Yang Ning's brows furrowed abruptly.

Wait, the light information Fu Luo sent back was encrypted through the internal communication system. Our own people could tell at a glance the identity of the information transmitter, so how could the higher-ups possibly not recognize it?

Yang Ning blurted out: "How could the source be unclear, clearly..."

At this point, Yang Ning's voice suddenly cut off. General Yang didn't answer, and an awkward silence appeared in the communication between the two. "...Oh, I understand now."

After a long while, Yang Ning finally let out a soft sigh and laughed sarcastically. He enunciated each word, "Yes, please rest assured, Commander."

The communication was mercilessly cut off by the other party.

However, Yang Ning sat there in silence for quite some time until Dong Jialing gently coughed beside his ear.

"All Chinese fleets, turn around. Rear teams to the front, retreat ten times the firing range. Inform the vanguard to go full throttle and quickly return to formation," Yang Ning ordered in an unchanging tone. "Send the coordinates of Fu Luo's last transmission to the reconnaissance soldier nearest to her. Demand that they bring my D-rank soldier back at all costs."
