Picking Up Stars

Chapter 56 - Chapter 52 Part 1

Qin Fang's good temper was only relative to Xing Yan.

He used to be quite fiery himself, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten into fights every few days. Qin Fang couldn't tolerate it when Xing Yan didn't speak nicely, so he put on his slippers and left the room with a stern face.

As a result, one of them stayed in the upstairs bedroom while the other sat on the sofa in the living room downstairs the whole afternoon, neither paying any attention to the other.

Sometimes quarrels are quite unnecessary, but the longer the cold treatment lasts, the angrier one gets. Things that could have been resolved with a sentence or two, when accumulated over an afternoon like this, felt suffocating.

Someone sent photos to their boyfriend, but the boyfriend didn't say a word and even retorted sarcastically. Qin Fang was furious, but also felt a bit of the occasional grievance young men experience.

With emotions pent up to a certain point, he felt he had done nothing wrong at all. His thoughts spiraled and all kinds of feelings surfaced. He was so angry that he didn't want to stay here anymore. He grabbed his phone and car keys from the coffee table, ready to leave.

"Where are you going?" The sudden voice from above startled Qin Fang.

He looked up and saw Xing Yan sitting on the floor by the second-floor railing, leaning sideways and looking at him.

Qin Fang didn't really want to talk to him. He glanced at Xing Yan then averted his gaze, his face cold and expressionless.

Xing Yan looked down at him. Qin Fang just stood there, neither of them speaking. The air seemed to freeze.

After a while, Qin Fang frowned slightly and turned to leave.

Xing Yan didn't stop him, letting him open the door and walk out. As Qin Fang sat in the car, he thought, ignoring me and still being so stubborn, what kind of person is he? When Xing Yan angered someone, he could provoke them to no end. Qin Fang started the car with a cold face, shifting gears without hesitation, ready to leave.

Usually when they argued a bit, it was just playful bickering. This was the first time they had gotten so angry at each other that they didn't speak for a whole afternoon.

If this were before, Qin Fang would have left directly as soon as he walked out of the room, not tolerating this temper. But at the time, he really didn't want to leave. Who could bear to?

He liked Xing Yan so much that even when sulking, he wouldn't leave. As a result, Xing Yan just let him sit downstairs stewing in anger for a whole afternoon, letting Qin Fang's fury reach a boiling point.

Thinking about it as he reversed the car, Qin Fang almost laughed in exasperation. He really couldn't believe it.

His phone chimed twice in a row. Qin Fang glanced at it lying on the passenger seat but ignored it. He had shifted gears and was about to drive out when the phone chimed twice again.

Qin Fang reached over to grab it. Unlocking the screen to take a look, it turned out to be from Xing Yan.

Scanning the screen, Qin Fang felt like laughing, but since he was still angry, he didn't actually smile.

Xing Yan had actually sent him two photos of his legs, the railing visible on the side. He must have taken them just now while sitting there.

One leg was bent casually while the other was stretched out straight, the back of the knee pressing down on the other foot, revealing just a glimpse of ankle. The sock hem was very low, the bony protrusion on the inner side of the ankle slightly protruding, with faint blue veins meandering into the sock hem.

Qin Fang licked his lips. Xing Yan's legs were so long and fair. He loved Xing Yan's legs so much. Usually these two photos would have been enough to arouse him.

There were two more messages below.

- Don't go

- Come back

Qin Fang had already shifted into gear, but now, no matter what, he couldn't lift his foot off the brake. Xing Yan told him not to go, so Qin Fang really couldn't bear to leave.

Looking at the messages Xing Yan sent, Qin Fang thought to himself, you really have no backbone.

Xing Yan sent another message.

- Who's fair?

Qin Fang looked at those two words for a few seconds, then suddenly laughed, as if resigned. Shaking his head with a hint of a smile on his lips, he shifted into park and turned off the engine.

When he entered, Xing Yan was still in the same position, only turning his head halfway to look at Qin Fang before turning back. Qin Fang walked up the stairs to Xing Yan, his anger nearly dissipated.

Xing Yan was wearing sweatpants. He had rolled them up above his knees to take the photos and hadn't pulled them back down, still sitting there casually.

Xing Yan looked up at him, still without much expression, as if he wasn't the one who had just sent the photos and messages. The two stared at each other, one with head raised, the other with eyes lowered, both looking very cold. It seemed whoever spoke first would lose.

In the end, it was Qin Fang who reached out his hand first, reaching for Xing Yan. Xing Yan grabbed his hand and stood up.

Qin Fang chuckled softly, leaning in to blow air by Xing Yan's ear. He said in a low voice, "You're the fairest...every part of you is fair."

Xing Yan raised his hand to hug him.

"Ouch! It hurts!" Qin Fang suddenly cried out.

Xing Yan pushed aside his collar and bit down hard on the left side of Qin Fang's neck, leaving a very obvious tooth mark. His voice slightly breathless, he asked Qin Fang, "Where were you going?"

Qin Fang said, "Back to school."

Xing Yan asked him, "What about me then?"

Qin Fang didn't say anything.

Xing Yan raised an eyebrow. "Not going to care about me?"

Qin Fang pointed to the motorcycle downstairs. "You can go back yourself."

"I'm not going back by myself," Xing Yan shook his head. "You brought me here."

He was being completely unreasonable, throwing a tantrum. But Qin Fang fell for it. He would indulge his own boyfriend of course. Qin Fang smiled and asked, "Why is your temper so bad?"

Xing Yan said, "I didn't sleep enough."

"But you didn't talk to me even after you woke up," Qin Fang added.

Xing Yan fell silent, pursing his lips without speaking.
