Chapter 37 - Zerg Race

There was no place more beautiful. Hundreds of millions of years ago, the galaxy surged, mountains and rivers rose and fell, the sun rose from the end of time, and the four seasons awakened the days and nights of the mortal world. Millions of years ago, their ancestors had crossed the African grasslands to take root here. Millions of years later, they would also share life and death together.

This firmament had remained unchanged since ancient times, so Chu Sui had never imagined that one day, the land beneath his feet would also be gradually submerged in the long river of the universe, lost forever, replaced by an entirely new race.

In the long course of evolution, the Zerg Race became the only highly intelligent life form in the vast universe. They were no different from humans in appearance, but their combat power was extremely high and they were bloodthirsty, especially the females. However, due to years of killing, if the violent factors remaining in their blood accumulated to a certain extent, they would gradually erode their brain nerves, leading to death by petrification. Only the Pheromones of the males could soothe them.

When the Zerg Race was first established, the number of males was scarce. The naturally combative females, in order to reproduce and survive, began to frantically plunder them, even imprisoning and confining them. But unexpectedly, the males were naturally weak. After being frightened and harmed, they found it difficult to secrete Pheromones. Some fell ill, others died. Seeing that the race was on the verge of extinction, the turmoil of the Zerg Race finally ceased.

Thus, the original rules were broken, and a cruel, inferior system was rebuilt.

After a complete upheaval, the status of males was far superior to that of females. They did not have to go out to work, nor did they have to toil and suffer. They could even marry multiple females, and they would not be punished by the law for whipping or scolding them at will. The highest protection and tolerance of Zerg society were all bestowed upon them.

The combat power of Female Zerg was higher than that of Male Zerg, yet they had to rely on their Pheromones to survive. This grotesque way of life reached a delicate balance at certain moments.

The Zerg Race could be a paradise for males, or it could be a fallen Hell.

Chu Sui was an only son, doted on by his family since childhood, just a profligate young master who knew nothing of labor. Thus, it was destined that when he one day accidentally transmigrated to the Zerg Race, he would be no different from those Male Zerg who just idled their lives away waiting for death.

He didn't have to worry about anything. When he woke up every day, his cold and handsome Male Monarch would kneel by the bed to dress him and then prepare a sumptuous breakfast. His residence was luxurious and magnificent, comparable to a palace. When he went out, he didn't even have to walk half a step, as dozens of Flyers were waiting for him to choose from. Countless Female Zerg flocked to him, willing to offer their lives and wealth with both hands, just for his brief stay.

Faced with such adoration and temptation, could anyone remain unmoved?

Who could remain unmoved...

He was only human, and all humans have emotions and desires.

Chu Sui was very unaccustomed to it at first, but later he gradually got used to it. He got used to his Male Monarch kneeling on the ground to speak to him, used to the bottomless indulgence of others. He began to act high and mighty, even learning from other Male Zerg to abuse and whip Female Zerg for amusement—

It wasn't that Chu Sui particularly liked this method; he just felt that since other Male Zerg did it, he would do it too.

He was once a human, but in the long, endless life of the Zerg Race, he became a zerg.

Chu Sui was not an entirely lucky person. After just a few years of hedonistic life, a rebellion broke out in The Empire. Due to the long-term oppression and humiliation of Female Zergs by Male Zergs, the former were finally unwilling to endure it and rose up in resistance, overthrowing the distorted system of "male supremacy."

All the military lifelines of The Empire were in the hands of the Female Zerg. One could imagine that when this day came, the Male Zerg had no ability to resist. Apart from kneeling to beg for mercy and cursing impotently, they could do nothing.

Chu Sui was one of them. On the day of the upheaval, he was taken away by people from the Military Department, locked in a room, his limbs shackled like a prisoner, unable to move. The fear of death hung over his head, lingering.

Chu Sui finally began to be afraid, but he didn't know who to ask for help. The Power-Suppressing Ring bound to his hands suppressed the power of a Male Zerg, but it also caused damage to his human body. By the time the door was finally opened, he was already on the verge of death, unable to even lift his head.

A pair of military boots appeared in his blurred vision, and even the conversation outside was only faintly audible.

"Admiral… I hope you know this is an exception… Please don't stay long…"

"I know my limits."

The latter voice was deep and cold, yet incredibly familiar to Chu Sui. He struggled to raise his head and saw a man in a military uniform step in from outside. His skin was a cold white, and his eyes, hidden in the shadow of his cap's brim, were a faint blue. His expression was blank, like a handful of pure white snow, his aura cold and proud. It was none other than his Male Monarch, Arno.

It was the sound of rattling chains. There wasn't a trace of excitement in Chu Sui's heart, only terror. He remembered how he had once whipped and abused Arno, utterly humiliating this Zerg before him. He felt that the other party was here for revenge and struggled even more fiercely.

Chu Sui spoke incoherently, shaking his head desperately with a pale face: "No… no… you can't kill me… If I die, you'll die too…"

He had once marked Arno, and the latter could only accept his Pheromones. If Chu Sui died, Arno would also die of petrification due to a bloodline riot.

Arno said nothing, letting Chu Sui struggle endlessly. He pulled out an extremely thin syringe from his jacket pocket, flicked the translucent red liquid inside with his finger, and then rolled up Chu Sui's sleeve.

The blue-eyed man wore white gloves. The sensation of the fabric brushing against his skin made Chu Sui freeze instantly, as if his throat had been suddenly seized, unable to utter a single word. He looked at Arno in terror, his face pale as he spat out a single word: "No…"

The syringe was pushed, expelling the excess air. The light red liquid was injected into Chu Sui's body along a pale green vein, a process that was completely painless.

"You probably never thought we would see this day."

Arno finally spoke. The rose emblem on his right armband was somewhat glaring. The sword on the left represented courage, the sword and shield on the right represented loyalty. The two crossed, protecting the rose in the middle, symbolizing the highest honor of The Empire.

This was a Female Zerg with illustrious military achievements. The Rose Medal on his shoulder was enough to prove his excellence. Chu Sui had never seen him kill an enemy; he only remembered Arno once kneeling at his feet, submissively, his clothes stripped off, his body covered in scarlet whip marks.

The tables had turned. Now their situations were completely reversed. He had indeed never expected this.

Chu Sui's eyelids grew heavier and heavier as the drug took effect, his strength draining away bit by bit. He barely gathered a shred of consciousness and said intermittently, "If I die… you'll die too…"

Arno watched him quietly, "You are mistaken. The moment I retired from the battlefield and got married because of the bloodline riot, I was already dead."

The tragic lives of many Female Zergs began at that moment. In order to sustain their lives, they could only kneel before Male Zergs and endure all kinds of humiliation.

Chu Sui looked at him, his lips moving with difficulty, as if wanting to say something, but as his life faded, he couldn't spit out another word. Arno seemed to want to cup his face, but his hand stretched out and then paused in mid-air. "This drug won't cause you any pain."

Only silence remained in the air.

Chu Sui could no longer answer him. His head slowly drooped and never lifted again.

Arno paused, then finally reached out and cupped his face.

Chu Sui was actually quite well-behaved when he wasn't talking. The corners of his eyes were slightly tilted up, his nose was high, and when he smiled, the corners of his lips would curve up, charming and alluring. But most of the time, his temper was quite foul, like a spoiled child.

"Male Master…"

Arno suddenly called out this long-unused title. He closed his eyes, then released his hand, took a step back, and turned to leave the room.

The guards outside re-locked the door, then saluted Arno and said with difficulty and respect, "Sir, this will not be a precedent."

Many other Male Zerg were being held in the adjacent rooms. It was unknown what was happening inside, but miserable screams were endless, accompanied by crisp cracking sounds. It was the sound of whipping, familiar to Arno, but now it was the era of the Female Zergs.

He nodded slowly and then turned to leave.

Chu Sui's life ended here. He was randomly selected as a reformation target. The System watched his short life through a light screen and then silently jotted down three key points in its notebook:

First, to correct the host's inherent flaws of laziness and hedonism.

Second, to supervise him in becoming self-reliant.

Third, to ensure he successfully survives the catastrophe.

After doing all this, the System flapped its wings and flew into the interdimensional passage. Under its power, time began to reverse, granting all things rebirth.

When Chu Sui woke up again, his memory was still in the cold prison cell. So much so that when he felt the soft, silky mattress beneath him, he thought he was dreaming. It wasn't until he fell off the bed with a thud that the pain jolted his senses back a little.

This ornately decorated room was very familiar, and the surrounding furnishings were also quite familiar. Chu Sui slowly climbed up from the floor, still a bit confused about the situation. It was only when he looked down and saw the time displayed on the Light Computer on his wrist that his pupils shrank as if he had seen a ghost, and he slapped himself hard across the face.

With a crisp "slap," the force was considerable, making Chu Sui gasp in pain. He clutched his face and looked at the time again. Finally, as if confirming something, he sat back down on the bed in a daze.

He was reborn?

At this time, he had just transmigrated to the Zerg Race not long ago. He had been found in the wild by the army and brought back to the Imperial Capital. Because his constitution was identified as male, he was given a temporary residence permit and, under the state's arrangement, married a Male Monarch.

How could he be reborn?

Chu Sui sat on the edge of the bed in a daze, no one could tell what he was thinking. Just then, a soft knock came from outside the door, followed by a slender, handsome man who entered. His long, clean hands held a tray steadily. He walked to Chu Sui, then bent his knees and knelt, his eyes lowered so his expression couldn't be seen clearly. His eyelashes were thick and long, casting dark shadows on his cold, pale skin, like a resting butterfly. "Male Master, please have your breakfast."

He wore a neat white shirt, the metal buttons meticulously fastened up to his neck. Below, he wore military trousers and black long boots. The tightly cinched belt made his waist seem extremely thin. From Chu Sui's angle, he could glimpse a small patch of skin on the back of the man's collar, mottled with purple and blue whip marks.

'I think I did that yesterday.'

Chu Sui subconsciously recalled the scene before his death, his chest heaving erratically as if he was forcibly enduring something. He stared intently at Arno, then forcefully lifted the other's chin. Those pale blue eyes constricted slightly as he was forced to look at him.

Arno's fingertips tightened slightly, looking a bit flustered. His bangs fell across his forehead, hiding his somewhat cold eyes. "Male Master…"

'What are you pretending to be weak for? You didn't look scared when you killed me,' Chu Sui thought. He held back, and held back again, but in the end, he couldn't resist. He flipped over the breakfast tray and kicked Arno's shoulder. The latter, not daring to resist, fell backward and landed messily on the floor.

Chu Sui stood up, reckless in his anger. He rolled up his sleeves, about to strike again, but just then, a sharp, numbing pain, like an electric shock, shot through his body. A stern and unfamiliar voice sounded in his mind: [Warning, warning, the host's behavior has violated the Reformation Regulations. Please cease immediately!]

The electric shock left Chu Sui completely numb, and he fell to the floor with a thud. Seeing this, Arno quickly rushed forward to help him up, his brows tightly furrowed, his tone carrying a trace of imperceptible helplessness, "Male Master, are you all right?"

Chu Sui's mind was blank, and it took him a long while to recover. He got up with Arno's help, his eyes looking around in panic, trying to find the damn thing that had just made the sound, but he found nothing.

"Male Master?"

Arno's blue eyes stared at him, inexplicably reminding Chu Sui of the chilling feeling he had before he died. His a-moment-ago blazing anger was doused with a basin of cold water, and he instantly calmed down.

Chu Sui was a coward who bullied the weak and feared the strong. As if he suddenly realized something, he snatched his hand from Arno's fingers, took a fearful step back, and managed to maintain a facade of bravado, but he was like a balloon that would pop with a single poke. "You, you, you…"

Chu Sui "you-ed" for a long time before remembering what he wanted to say. He pointed to the door, stuck out his neck and said, "Get out!"

Arno paused at this, slowly withdrew his hand, then bent down to clean up the broken dishes and quietly exited the room.

Guards were stationed at the door. An aide-de-camp had been waiting downstairs for a long time. Seeing Arno come down, he stepped forward and said in a low voice, "Major General, an urgent summons from the Military Department."

Arno's face was expressionless. He handed the dishes with the broken porcelain to him, then wiped his hands and took the military jacket to put it on, covering the mottled whip marks on his body. The metal buttons had exquisite rose patterns, noble and elegant.

He fastened the buttons all the way to the last one, covering his neck, and only then did he ask, "What is it?"

The aide-de-camp could only pretend not to see the wounds on his body. He glanced at the broken dishes and shook his head, indicating he didn't know. "I heard it's about the transfer of military authority."

After speaking, he glanced at him and added hesitantly, "The General said that he understands you're a newlywed, so if you really can't get away, you don't have to go. You can just take leave later."

Arno frowned imperceptibly, then walked outside. "No need."

Chu Sui was currently in his room, locked in a battle of wits with the System. He had been a pampered young master since childhood, never having tasted bitterness. He was also incredibly petty. Being zapped out of the blue, how could he possibly let it go?

"You dare to shock me? You actually dare to shock me? On what grounds do you shock me?! If you have the guts, come down here and have a real fight with this young master!"

Chu Sui rolled up his sleeves, refusing to believe he couldn't even beat a ball!

The System flew into the air, its wings flapping, refusing to come down: [Ding! Dear host, as long as you do not violate the Reformation Regulations, the System will not activate the electric shock punishment. Our goal is to reform you well and help you become a new person. The sea of bitterness has no shore, turn back and the shore is there!]

Chu Sui: "…Are you sick in the head?"

The System seriously corrected him: [I'm not. You are.]

[Sloth, wrath, pride, greed, are all original sins.]

But Chu Sui didn't realize it. He didn't think he was in the wrong. "There are plenty of Male Zerg just like me, why don't you go find them!"

The System asked him: [Are you a zerg, or a human?]

As soon as the words were spoken, the air instantly fell silent. Chu Sui's body stiffened visibly, and the color drained from his face.

The System seriously asked again: [Chu Sui, are you a zerg, or a human?]

Chu Sui…

Chu Sui had almost forgotten how long it had been since he had heard those two words. That was his name, the name his family had given him. He was human, of course he was human. The Zerg Race did not have the surname Chu, they didn't.

He looked at the System stiffly, his lips colorless. After trembling for a long time, he finally managed to force out three words: "I am human."

The System's body floated up and down as it continued to ask: [Then why do you live like a zerg?]

Chu Sui did not answer. As if all his strength had been drained, he collapsed onto the sofa, looking completely soulless.

Why do I live like a zerg?

Why?

Chu Sui just felt unlucky. He had clearly just gone camping in the mountains with his friends, so why did he inexplicably end up in this place? He had searched before, had looked it up on the Light Computer, but it showed that Earth had disappeared millions of years ago, without a trace in the universe.

Unlucky!

Unlucky!

Chu Sui couldn't think of any other words to describe it. Other people lost their families and countries; he, on the other hand, had lost a whole planet!

Author's Note: Chu Sui: Damn, it hurts so much.
