Chapter 29 - Chapter 17 Part 2

The owner stroked his chin. "Not expensive, just... a little over three thousand, maybe four thousand."

Pei Ran nodded. Just as he was about to pay the deposit, he heard a voice from behind him say, "What's wrong with the computer?"

Pei Ran turned around and saw Yan Zhun.

Yan Zhun was wearing a hat, his eyes languidly lowered beneath the brim. "Broken?"

Pei Ran hummed in agreement. "I accidentally dropped it, the keyboard is broken."

"Baby Ran?!" Lin Xuhuan's eyes widened just as Pei Ran finished speaking.

Pei Ran was taken aback by the name and stared at him blankly.

"It's me! Me! The one... your Huan Die!"

Lin Xuhuan's game ID was "nihuandie".

Pei Ran's voice was too easy to recognize. His tone was neither high nor low, pleasant to the ear. Lin Xuhuan knew it was him the moment he heard it.

Yan Zhun looked at the owner. "What did you just say, how much to replace a keyboard? Four thousand?"

He had no expression on his face, but it was enough to make one's heart shudder.

"Four thousand?!" Before the owner could even speak, Lin Xuhuan exploded. "What kind of keyboard are you planning to install for him? Black switches? Custom keycaps? Or are you going to design an exclusive ID on it?"

Pei Ran watched, dumbfounded, as Lin Xuhuan cursed while snatching his computer back from the owner's hands, muttering about a scam shop as he walked out.

"Don't come to this shop in the future." Yan Zhun brought him back to his senses. "It's a rip-off."

The owner in front of them: "..."

Pei Ran nodded lightly. "Oh, okay."

"Let's go," Yan Zhun said naturally. "Let's eat together."

Even after they reached the restaurant, Lin Xuhuan still couldn't stop cursing the shop owner.

"It's because you look too easy to fool," Lin Xuhuan said. "You weren't actually about to pay just now, were you?"

Pei Ran said, "I'm not very familiar with the prices for these things."

Lin Xuhuan shook his head and clicked his tongue.

That made sense. Someone who could afford to hire Yan Zhun as a game companion was obviously not the type to fuss over such a small amount of money.

However, Pei Ran's appearance was quite a surprise to him. He had originally thought he was just an ordinary otaku who spent money like water, loved gaming, and had a nice voice.

But the first time he saw Pei Ran, he felt that this person was very... very what?

Lin Xuhuan, who had dropped out of middle school to play esports, was at a loss for words.

When he looked at Pei Ran, the other was lowering his head, carefully rinsing his bowl and chopsticks in hot water.

His slender, fair fingers seemed out of place with the gaudy, old-fashioned pattern on the porcelain spoon.

Lin Xuhuan suddenly had a thought. Pei Ran had an outstanding figure and a straight back, standing there quietly like a crane. His aura made even the messy, cluttered repair shop seem much more high-end.

There was no one like that in Lin Xuhuan's circle. He found it novel and couldn't help but move his chair closer to Pei Ran.

"Baby Ran, what's your real name?"

Pei Ran told him his name.

"Nice name!" Lin Xuhuan asked again, "You go to the same university as my big bro? Since you're schoolmates, did my big bro give you a discount when he took your order?"

Pei Ran thought for a moment. "He did."

'He probably did.'

"What was the discount, how much was it?" Lin Xuhuan asked.

"What's it to you?" Yan Zhun interrupted their conversation.

He took off his hat, the hair on top of his head a little messy. Paired with his cold expression, it was strangely cute.

Pei Ran subconsciously stared at his messy hair, and then his gaze met Yan Zhun's, who happened to look over at that exact moment.

"Is your leg better?" Yan Zhun asked.

Pei Ran hummed in affirmation. "It got better a few days ago."

Yan Zhun said, "Let me see."

Pei Ran: "..."

Seeing him silent, Yan Zhun raised an eyebrow.

Pei Ran first glanced at Lin Xuhuan, then subconsciously looked at Yan Zhun's thigh. Just as he was about to refuse, he saw Yan Zhun raise the corner of his mouth and smile.

"I meant for you to lift up your pant leg so I can have a look," Yan Zhun said. "Not for you to put it up here."
