"Our bags!" Chu Yi suddenly sat up straight.
"They'll be safe," Cui Yi said. "The guard is there."
They had abandoned their luggage by the estate entrance where the guard booth was. The guard had carried them inside when they ran off.
Seeing them return, the guard looked shocked. He took out their bags: "Were you... catching a thief?"
"Yeah," Yan Hang said.
"Did you get him?" the guard asked. "Why didn't you call for me? I could've helped!"
"We got him," Yan Hang smiled. "If it was a big crook I definitely would've called you."
"Hurry up, we still have a flight to catch," Cui Yi checked the time. "I think we'll be late."
"If we're late we'll just rebook," Yan Hang said casually.
"Let me see if I can get there in time driving fast," Cui Yi said.
Cui Yi usually drove steadily, behaving appropriately for a middle-aged man - never competing or getting angry. When he did get angry he would curse, but he could still keep a steady speed.
Today there was little traffic. For the first time Yan Hang saw Cui Yi drive fast, though still within the speed limit.
"I thought you were going to speed," Yan Hang glanced at the speedometer.
"I'm a lawyer after all," Cui Yi said.
"I'd have forgotten if you didn't emphasize it," Yan Hang laughed softly, turning to look at Chu Yi.
Chu Yi was quiet in the back seat, staring ahead blankly, seemingly lost in thought.
Yan Hang poked his arm.
Chu Yi turned his head: "Hmm?"
"Hmm?" Yan Hang tilted his head questioningly.
"Nothing," Chu Yi smiled.
When they arrived at the airport, the timing was actually still okay. As long as they ran non-stop towards the boarding gate, they wouldn't miss the flight.
"Hurry run run run run run," Cui Yi urged, "Give me a call when you get there."
"Mm!" Chu Yi picked up his bag and ran inside.
"Ah..." Yan Hang followed behind him, very unhappy, "I hate rushing like this, why don't we just change to a later flight..."
"Run fast!" Chu Yi turned back and shouted at him.
"Shouting my ass!" Yan Hang said.
"Ass!" Chu Yi turned back and shouted again.
Yan Hang ran after him laughing, by the time they reached the boarding gate he was laughing so hard he had no strength left.
"They're calling names!" Chu Yi finally slowed down. "Passengers Chu Yi and Yan Hang."
There were no passengers left at the boarding gate, they were the last two to board.
After sitting down, Yan Hang fastened his seatbelt and leaned back in his seat, not wanting to move at all.
He felt a bit tired.
This fatigue wasn't just physical, but also mental.
He turned his head to look at Chu Yi.
Chu Yi looked fine, he had spaced out for a while in the car, but now seemed to have recovered, staring at the flight attendant explaining the safety procedures.
Yan Hang looked at his profile.
He's grown up, he's a young man now.
After all this time, today was the first time Yan Hang truly saw Chu Yi's "big brother" side.
When he was emotionally breaking down, Chu Yi's reaction surprised him.
"Look at me!"
When he said these words, the calmness and determination in Chu Yi's eyes caught him off guard.
And it was this look that calmed him down.
In that moment, he suddenly felt that Chu Yi was some kind of support.
The little stutterer no longer needed his protection, the little stutterer might even be able to protect him with a wave of his arm.
Yan Hang smiled.
Chu Yi turned to look at him: "What are you smiling at?"
"Guess," Yan Hang said.
"I'm too, handsome?" Chu Yi said.
"Yes," Yan Hang nodded, "Your shamelessness is directly proportional to your handsomeness."
Chu Yi laughed, rubbed his nose, and continued watching the flight attendant.
A cautious mutt, among all the passengers on this plane, he was probably listening the most attentively, even stretching his neck to look at the emergency exit.
This kind of serious and cautious attitude might seem a bit silly on others, but on Chu Yi, it somehow made people think he was quite cool.
"Look at me!"
This voice kept echoing in Yan Hang's mind.
I'm looking at you.
Yan Hang closed his eyes, and in front of him was Chu Yi's face when he said those words.
Chu Yi was a kid with a pretty good temper. Yan Hang rarely saw this kind of expression on his face today, which made him feel instantly that Chu Yi was no longer a silly puppy.
In fact, he realized for the first time that even the contours of Chu Yi's face were no longer as soft as a child's.
They already carried some...coldness?
Yan Hang couldn't find the right words to describe it for a moment.
"Yan Hang," Chu Yi patted his hand.
"Hmm," Yan Hang opened his eyes, "What's up?"
"We're about to take off," Chu Yi said.
"Oh," Yan Hang responded and looked at Chu Yi for a while. Chu Yi didn't seem to have more to say, so he had to ask, "Then what?"
"No then, ah," Chu Yi looked at him, "Just telling you we're taking off."
"Okay, I know," Yan Hang smiled and closed his eyes again.
"Sleep again later," Chu Yi patted his hand again, "When we take off, open your eyes."
"Can't I close my eyes and sleep when we take off?" Yan Hang looked at him helplessly.
"Don't know," Chu Yi thought about it, "Eyes open is safer."
"Oh," Yan Hang sighed and cooperated by not closing his eyes again, turning his head with Chu Yi to look out the window.
It wasn't until the plane flew steadily that Chu Yi leaned over and whispered in his ear, "Don't be like this anymore in the future."
"How so?" Yan Hang asked.
"Hitting people like today," Chu Yi said, "Too ruthless."
"Okay," Yan Hang nodded, "I'll listen to you."
"Especially scary," Chu Yi said.
"Did I scare you?" Yan Hang turned his head.
Now his face was very close to Chu Yi's and he could count Chu Yi's eyelashes clearly. He could also see Chu Yi frowning.
"Yeah," Chu Yi sighed.
"Your wrinkle here is asymmetric," Yan Hang pressed on the wrinkle between his brows.
"Wrinkles are too, annoying to care about symmetry," Chu Yi said.
