In his memory, Mom and Dad rarely talked. When Mom was angry, Dad would stay silent or avoid her. When Mom wasn't angry, they still had nothing to say to each other.
They basically never left Chu Yi with an impression of being "parents". Since he was young, Chu Yi thought the moms and dads in textbooks were all fake, because they were nothing like his mom and dad. As he grew older, he realized that actually, it was his mom and dad who were unlike most other moms and dads.
And as a "married couple", they left even less of an impression on Chu Yi.
To Chu Yi, they were like his grandparents, just a title.
Now that Mom suddenly said she wanted a divorce, Chu Yi was as calm as if he'd heard about any unrelated couple divorcing.
He didn't even ask why.
And Mom naturally wouldn't explain. After this phone call, she was like before - no news, no calls, no messages.
Chu Yi's life didn't change at all because of Mom's call. Every day was still classes, work, and visiting Yan Hang on weekends.
"There's a holiday for New Year's Day," Yan Hang said, "If you want to go back and see what's going on, you can go back then."
It was only half a month until New Year's Day. Chu Yi took out his phone to look at the calendar, was silent for a while, then shook his head: "I won't go back."
'Home' had become more and more unfamiliar. Even his small bed, his desk, those little trinkets in his drawer had all disappeared. If he went back, he wouldn't even have a place to sleep. What would he go back for?
It would be enough to go back during the Spring Festival to see his grandparents.
The wind was strong by the sea. He and Yan Hang stood side by side on the pier, watching the waves crash against the shore.
There was still a bit of a lonely feeling.
Not the loneliness of being alone - as long as Yan Hang was there, he wouldn't feel that kind of loneliness.
It was the loneliness of from now on just being Chu Yi.
This kind of loneliness, Yan Hang should be able to understand. Not just this kind of loneliness, but as Yan Hang grew up, he should understand many kinds of loneliness. He must have tasted every kind of loneliness.
"I want to drink, rice porridge," Chu Yi tugged at his clothes, looking at Yan Hang.
"Then let's go get some," Yan Hang smiled. Half of his face was buried in that plaid scarf, when he smiled his eyes were especially noticeable, two warm curves, "I want to drink corn juice."
This little shop was by the sea, the small wooden porch outside the shop was built right over the water, where you could see many sailboats. Every time he and Yan Hang came here to play, they liked to sit here for a while.
They entered the shop and headed towards the wooden porch as usual.
Before they walked out the door, Yan Hang pulled him back, looking out the glass wall: "Zhou Chunyang?"
"Huh?" Chu Yi was stunned.
When he looked in the direction Yan Hang indicated, he saw two people sitting in the spot he and Yan Hang liked best.
One had his back to them, the other was in profile, but it was clearly visible that it was indeed Zhou Chunyang.
"It really is Chun, Chunyang," Chu Yi said as he walked out, "Why is he here too..."
"Hey," Yan Hang pulled him back, "Don't go over there, how do you know if he wants you to see him or not?"
"Why, wouldn't he, want to?" Chu Yi didn't understand.
"They're on a date." Yan Hang said.
"A date?" Chu Yi was stunned.
"Would you and Daqiang come here to sit and drink and watch the sea?" Yan Hang looked at him.
"No," Chu Yi glanced at him, "Da, Qiang and I, aren't that, close."
"Then who are you close with?" Yan Hang asked.
"Chunyang," Chu Yi said.
"And you two are close enough to come here to drink and watch the sea?" Yan Hang stared at him.
After staring back at him for several seconds, Chu Yi suddenly laughed: "No."
"Laugh again, will you?" Yan Hang pointed at him, then poked his nose, "I'm telling you, your relationship with Zhou Chunyang is very dangerous, you know?"
"Then we're also, on a date, right?" Chu Yi ignored his words, focusing on the key point.
"Obviously," Yan Hang said, "Otherwise what are we doing, coming out to talk business?"
"Then I'm not, not afraid of others see, seeing," Chu Yi said, "And they're sit, sitting in our special, special seat."
"Alright then," Yan Hang laughed, "Take a sneaky photo and send it to him, tell them to move. If they don't move, we'll fight."
They walked onto the wooden porch, but Zhou Chunyang didn't see them.
Chu Yi took out his phone, took a photo of Zhou Chunyang and that boy, then sent it via WeChat.
A few seconds later, Zhou Chunyang's phone on the table rang. He picked it up and looked, and then his lip movements seemed to say: "Fuck."
Then he immediately looked over in their direction.
Chu Yi smiled at him.
"Fuck!" Zhou Chunyang stood up, patted the shoulder of the boy next to him, and ran over to them, "No way, what a coincidence?"
"Mm, we're here to sunbathe," Yan Hang nodded.
"My friend," Zhou Chunyang looked at the boy who walked over with him, "Middle school classmate."
"Want to sit together?" that boy said.
"No need," Yan Hang smiled, "You two chat, we'll sit over there."
"Alright then." Zhou Chunyang glanced at Chu Yi and smiled.
After sitting down with Yan Hang in the corner of the wooden porch, Chu Yi finally felt that there seemed to be some other meaning in Zhou Chunyang's smile.
What meaning?
Probably... a date?
If Zhou Chunyang's was called a date, then naturally what Yan Hang and he were doing was also a date.
Chu Yi looked at Yan Hang, who was talking to the waiter.
Yan Hang in winter gave a different feeling from Yan Hang in summer.
In summer, Yan Hang dressed very casually. Apart from his formal uniform, most of the time he wore t-shirts and sweatpants, occasionally a shirt, but mostly very casual, looking a bit lazy.
Winter was different, with various exquisite long and short coats, every detail revealing a message: not only am I vain, I'm also quite rich.
The plaid scarf was probably the only accessory he never changed, no matter what he wore, he always had this plaid scarf.
"Let me introduce you to what the puppy and I are about to drink," Yan Hang took out his phone, pointing at the two hot drinks the waiter had just brought, "Mine is corn juice."
Only then did Chu Yi notice he was livestreaming, and quickly ruffled his wind-blown hair.
"The puppy's cup," Yan Hang pointed the camera at him, "Tell the girls what's in your cup?"
"Five grain," Chu Yi picked up the cup and held it to his face, "Rice porridge, mixed grain rice, rice porridge."
Yan Hang smiled: "It's quite tasty, he really likes it."
Chu Yi nodded, lowered his head and took a sip: "Delicious."
"Want to play?" Yan Hang held the phone out to him.
"Mm." Chu Yi took the phone.
Yan Hang pulled up his scarf, covering half his face.
"This sca, scarf," Chu Yi turned the phone to face Yan Hang's face and waved it a bit, "Is it nice?"
-It's nice!
-It really suits Brother Xiao Tian
-It's nice, but your Brother Xiao Tian would look good even wrapped in a dishcloth, trust me
-Puppy is so innocent, be careful he doesn't really go find a dishcloth...
