Chapter 57 - Chapter 56 Part 1

"Now Zhang Chen is covering all your work," Sister Wang said. "She will report to you once a day. If there are any issues, just let her know."

"Okay." Yan Hang nodded.

"You need to get well soon. I didn't realize before, but just yesterday alone I was exhausted to death," Zhang Chen said. "When I get used to it and am not tired anymore, I should stage a coup."

"Go ahead and stage the coup," Yan Hang said. "I'll apply to transfer to the kitchen."

"Sister Wang, look at this guy," Zhang Chen sighed. "What's so attractive about the kitchen? You're already a supervisor here, yet you still want to go to the kitchen and start as a junior staff. It's quite annoying."

"It's my only hobby." Yan Hang smiled.

"It's probably not possible in the near term. The restaurant has just gotten on track," Sister Wang said. "The director is extremely satisfied. I'm afraid even if you submit an application, he won't agree... He wanted to come see you with us today."

"Oh no, absolutely not," Yan Hang was startled. "That's too high level."

"Don't worry, I stopped Manager Tang from coming," Sister Wang laughed. "I know you can't handle these things. We won't stay long today either, we'll leave in a bit."

Yan Hang never expected colleagues to come visit. Actually it was very normal, he just never worked anywhere this long before to have that concept.

When Sister Wang said they would leave soon, he breathed a sigh of relief.

He was already considered to be adapting very well now. Every day he stood in the restaurant, looking at the people coming and going in front of him, forcing a smile to deal with all kinds of unexpected situations... These were all scenarios he would have tried to avoid in the past. The chaotic crowds would greatly increase his stress.

But now he could force himself to integrate into a "normal" work life, trying hard to adapt to the colleagues, leaders, and customers that appeared in his life...

He still felt exhausted though, even if no one could tell.

Except for Chu Yi, it was very difficult for him to face other people at ease. Who knows when this state would change, maybe it would be like this for his whole life.

After Sister Wang and Zhang Chen left, he laid down on the bed and let out a long sigh.

"The flowers are very pretty," Chu Yi stood by the bedside table and took out a small card from the bouquet. "Wishing Yan Hang a speedy recovery."

"What's in that big bag?" Yan Hang asked.

"Let me see," Chu Yi opened the big gift bag Sister Wang brought. "Wow, so much food."

"What is there?" Yan Hang turned his head.

"Cookies, egg rolls," Chu Yi took them out one by one, several very pretty boxes. "Pineapple cakes..."

"I love pineapple cakes," Yan Hang said. "Do you have anything you like to eat?"

"I don't know, I've never tried them," Chu Yi said. "But I don't like sweets."

"Then give the other stuff," Yan Hang said softly, "to uncle."

"Okay." Chu Yi nodded.

The caregiver uncle happily declined, saying it wasn't necessary. Chu Yi seemed to not know what to say either and just kept handing the bag to him, only saying two words: "Take it."

Yan Hang watched from the side, always wanting to laugh. Finally, when Chu Yi went to the bathroom to wring out a towel, the uncle said with a smile, "Thank you, young man."

"You're welcome, I can't eat that much anyway." Yan Hang smiled.

"Your younger brother," Uncle said, "is very... straightforward."

"Hm?" Yan Hang thought about how Chu Yi was just now and couldn't help laughing again.

"It seemed like if I refused one more time he would get angry," Uncle said. "Even though he usually looks quite amiable."

"So don't refuse anymore, if you do he might hit you." Yan Hang said.

Uncle laughed and patted his chest exaggeratedly. Seeing Chu Yi come out after wringing the towel, he reached out to take it. "To wipe your body, right? Let me do it."

"I'll do it," Chu Yi's face was still expressionless. Only when he walked to the bedside did he seem to remember to smile. "Let me try."

"Then you try," Uncle said. "I'll go to the office and ask the doctor if the feeding tube can be removed today. Once it's out, you can eat some liquid food."

"Okay." Chu Yi nodded.

The dressing on Yan Hang's wounds was changed. The discoloration around the wounds from the medicine had also faded a bit, and the abrasions had scabbed over, looking not as scary as before.

Chu Yi couldn't be as deft as Uncle, he could only try his best to make his movements seem not so clumsy.

Holding Yan Hang's hand to wipe his arm, Yan Hang leaned on the bed and sighed, "I really want to take a shower... it's so uncomfortable..."

"Bear with it for two more days." Chu Yi said.

"You should have brought my perfume, I could spray some to cover the smell." Yan Hang said.

"You don't smell," Chu Yi said. "It's not summer."

Yan Hang sighed.

Chu Yi lifted the blanket, preparing to wipe Yan Hang's legs, but hesitated when grabbing the pant legs, not knowing if he should roll up the pant legs to wipe or take off the pants to wipe.

"I'm wearing underwear," Yan Hang bent one leg and lightly thrust it. "Take them off to wipe, I'll change into sweatpants. These have no stretch and are uncomfortable to wear."

...That movement.

Chu Yi had never read any erotic novels, erotic comics, or watched any risqué videos. At this moment, he couldn't even find a similar scene header in his mind, but at least 180 nosebleed gifs flashed by.

All kinds of nosebleeds, fancy nosebleeds, seven-orifice nosebleeds.

He really wanted to kneel down right there and kowtow to Yan Hang a few times.

This feeling was not pleasant, repeatedly having all kinds of uncontrollable physiological reactions and associations in extremely inappropriate scenarios.

It made him embarrassed, ashamed, shy, and even a bit disgusted with himself for reacting as if he had taken some unspeakable drug.

He put down the towel and took the opportunity to get Yan Hang pants. He opened the cabinet door and hid himself behind it. Closing his eyes, he let out a soft sigh, trying hard to calm himself down.

Actually, there wasn't really any major impact to speak of. These reactions were always so uncontrollable. Sometimes stretching and yawning might cause an erection. But in the current situation, it was intolerable.

Intolerable.

It made him feel like a pervert.

"You..." Yan Hang called out to him, but before finishing his sentence, his voice disappeared. He suddenly came back to his senses and reached out to pull Yan Hang's pants out. As he closed the cabinet door, he discovered that the cabinet had two layers, so he opened the upper layer.

It could only cover his upper body.

His embarrassing lower body was completely exposed to Yan Hang without any cover, and it was from a perfect side view.

Although it wasn't an intense reaction, he was wearing thin sweatpants. From such a standard side view... Yan Hang must have seen it.

His entire body was stiff as he stood in front of the cabinet, staring at the closed door, not daring to turn his head towards Yan Hang.

"Chu Yi," Yan Hang felt that they couldn't remain in this stalemate. Although he didn't know what to do either, he still called out to Chu Yi, "Come here."

When Chu Yi walked over clutching his pants, his knuckles turned slightly white from the force. He also walked with a bit of a limp, and his eyes didn't meet Yan Hang's, looking everywhere else.

When he reached the bedside, Chu Yi said nothing and stiffly pulled the pants up Yan Hang's legs. Yan Hang tried to minimize his movements as the two cooperated very awkwardly to put the pants on. When Chu Yi covered him with the blanket, the pant legs were still twisted, but he could only endure it for now.

Chu Yi's embarrassed reaction was likely because of him, but he couldn't quite determine which specific action or body part produced this magical effect. After all, he wouldn't have a physiological response from seeing other men do any of the actions in that series he did earlier.

...Of course, he had never seen it either.

"Puppy, come here." Yan Hang waved Chu Yi over.

Chu Yi moved next to him with difficulty, but before he could speak, the elderly caregiver and two nurses walked in with a tray.

"The catheter can be removed now," a nurse said, looking at the sign by his bed. "Do you feel any abdominal bloating?"

"No," Yan Hang replied.

Chu Yi had moved to the side at some point.

"Okay," the nurse nodded. "Later when I tell you to hold your breath, do so to prevent any fluid from dripping into your trachea."

"Mm," Yan Hang responded.

"Will it hurt?" Chu Yi asked from the side.

"There's hardly any sensation when it's pulled out, it's very quick," the nurse smiled. "It won't hurt."

"Oh." Chu Yi nodded, leaning against the cabinet.

After the catheter was removed, Yan Hang felt much more relaxed. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before slowly exhaling. "Comfortable."

"You'll need to eat a liquid diet for the next few days, then semi-liquid," the nurse said.

"Mm, I ordered the hospital meals for him," the caregiver uncle said.

After the nurse left, Yan Hang wanted to call Chu Yi over to comfort him, but the caregiver kept standing nearby, so he couldn't speak.

Chu Yi just leaned against the cabinet, lost in thought.

After several minutes of silence, there was suddenly some commotion in the hallway. The caregiver uncle tilted his head to listen. "Why is it getting noisy? I'll go take a look."

After the man left, Yan Hang glanced at Chu Yi. Chu Yi walked over with his head lowered and sat in the chair by his bedside.

"What's wrong?" Yan Hang raised his hand, wanting to ruffle his hair, but hesitated a bit.

"Nothing." Chu Yi quickly brought his head close to Yan Hang's hand.

Yan Hang smiled and ruffled Chu Yi's hair. Chu Yi took the opportunity to lay his head on the edge of the bed, burying his face in his arms. After a while, he spoke in a muffled voice, "You saw it, didn't you?"

"Mm," Yan Hang looked at him and noticed his ears had turned completely red. He wanted to laugh again but felt he couldn't quite do so. "It's no big deal. Isn't it quite normal for guys?"

Chu Yi remained silent, still lying there.

Yan Hang didn't even know how to comfort people, let alone give guidance. Seeing Chu Yi like this, he had no idea what to say next.

"Do you, think, I'm a pervert?" Chu Yi's voice was still muffled, clearly very depressed.

"How are you perverted?" Yan Hang sighed softly. "It's just a normal physiological reaction. Even rubbing against pants can make it hard..."

"I wasn't, like this before," Chu Yi remained depressed.

"You were a puppy before, but now you're..." Yan Hang struggled to find the right words. "A big, big dog."

"Why are you stuttering?" Chu Yi asked.

Yan Hang laughed. "Damn, I can't believe I'm being mocked for stuttering by someone who stutters."

After laughing a couple times, it seemed to tug at his wound again. Just as he was about to press on it, Chu Yi reached out and covered the wound, head still lowered as he lay by the bedside with an arm pressing on the injury.

Yan Hang found it difficult to describe his current mood. Chu Yi's behavior was indeed no longer like an ordinary puppy rubbing against his leg and whimpering a few times. Even if he was reluctant to speculate, he could already sense it.

So he felt very helpless.

And heartbroken.

He wouldn't have any aversion, but he also couldn't give Chu Yi the answer he wanted so rashly.

Moreover, Chu Yi seemed to just want to let him know when he couldn't hold it in anymore, without expressing much anticipation for his response.

Perhaps he didn't dare hope.
